The Haunted Town of Lil-Sur-Mur was a thrill this past October as it raised a total of $17,885 for three local charities.

"We've raised $8,000 for Sask Abilities, $8,000 for City Parks & Play Program," Andy Keys, owner and one of the organizers of the Haunted Town, said. "And it was $1,885 from the proceeds from the quilt raffle that is going to go to Kathy Jennings and the Adopt-a-Senior Program."

Taking place at the Lil-Sur-Mur Paintball Field, around 250 people passed through the Haunted Town each night to take part in the 45-minute experience.

There were six houses participants passed through, each one with a different theme. Ranging from clowns to spiders, they hope to scare everyone that passes through.

“We’re just a bunch of crazies that like to go out and scare people really and people pay us to do it,” says Keys. “But this wouldn’t be possible without our scarers and without the volunteers.”

Over 60 volunteers participated to make the fear-filled nights possible, as well as a handful of sponsors who helped to cover the costs.

Keys hopes that in the future, more charities or any groups that do good in the community will reach out so he can support more organizations.

He asks that they write a letter or email addressed to A.M Delivery, stating who the organization is and what they do for the community.

The group expects next year's Haunted Town of Lil-Sur-Mur to increase even more with higher proceeds.
