Moose Jaw Police Station
Police have released more detailed
information about the body of a Swift Current woman that was found
on Athabasca Street West in Moose Jaw Saturday
morning.
Officers say 29 year old Kanda Benaschak was the
woman found near a downtown business, not inside a home as originally
reported.
"Police received a call to assist EMS in
regards to at that time what was considered to be cardiac arrest"
said Sgt. Cliff Froehlich of the Moose Jaw Police Service. "Police taped off the area, conducted
an extensive investigation into the immediate surroundings and police
are continuing to investigate."
While they've ordered an
autopsy has to determine the exact cause of death, police say
exposure to the cold appears to have been a contributing
factor.
"Until we speak with witnesses, find out where
she had come from who she had been with," Sgt. Froehlich said.
"At that time we will have more of a picture of what had
happened."
"Basically we will do a time line for the
past 24 hours to see what the activities of this person were. We will
conduct several interviews... and try and come up with an
answer."
Saturday morning was -25 degrees with the
windchill just hours before Benaschak's body was found.
