Monday was the SPCA Pooch Plunge at the Fairview Pool as the outdoor pool closed for the year.

This is the first that the SPCA has hosted the dog swim, but it isn't the first time a dog swim has been in the city, as it happened a few years ago.

Teresa Cole, a development officer with the Swift Current SPCA, said it's a good way to wrap up the summer.

"Well, its the end of the summer and we've had quite a few good events, so we just wanted something to cap off the year and give folks that own dogs an opportunity to take the dogs for a swim."

It was $5 a dog, and the goal of the event was not only to give the dogs a chance to enjoy themselves but also to raise money for the SPCA. Money raised will go into helping pay for food, care, and shelter for the pets at the SPCA.

The Pooch Plunge raised $111 and had a dozen dogs come out to the pool, despite the chilly night.

Besides the swim, there were raffle tickets, merchandise, and sparkle tattoos for the kids.

Cole added that they wanted to see how this year went but said they would be happy to it next year.
