A large area of the southwest was without power off and on from mid morning to late afternoon yesterday.

Heather Johnson from Sask Power says icing and frost build up on the lines caused the outages.

"There are a variety of causes, but they relate back to the spell of weather that we had recently, which caused a lot of icing and frost to build up on the lines," she said. "Some of that ice and frost is still there, some of it caused damage that needed to be repaired to some of the equipment, so it's all very much weather related."

Johnson adds it's hard to say how many people where affected.

"I don't have a total number of how many customers were effected. The situation was so fluid yesterday, with some customers being restored and then others going out. Right now I don't have an accurate number of exactly how many customers that were out yesterday."

The Wadenna and Wynyard areas are still without power this morning, while most locations here in the southwest have had their power restored.
