A number of power outages yesterday in the community of Shaunavon and some surrounding areas.

Due to an issue with a piece of equipment at a sub station, power was out twice, from around five a.m. until approximately 8:30 a.m. and then again from about 10:50 a.m. until roughly 11:30 a.m.

Sask Power Spokesperson, Jordan Jackle explains, "And we are attributing a lot of this to some of the weather that we've seen. So, you see, that heavy, wet snow out there, it sticks to things and weighs them down, putting a lot more weight on lines and that kind of thing. And it can also stick to some of our more sensitive equipment out there, and causing shorts and whatnot."

There was also some power lines that went down on First Avenue West in Shaunavon and power was not restored there until early evening.
