The conversion of power lines in several Swift Current neighbourhoods has wrapped up for 2008.

Line Superintendent, and Co-Director of City Light and Power, Mitch Minken says the project for the year wrapped up last week.

Minken says the upgrades went smoothly, and the planned power outages were kept to a minimum.  Now that the upgrades are completed, he says they hopefully won't experience any outages.

With plans to continue upgrades over the next few years, Minken says they'll soon be turning to a major section of the city.  Minken says the city lines are in pretty good shape currently, so the main area of focus in the next few years will be the downtown business core.

The purpose behind the work is to replace aging poles and lines, as well as to improve voltage for future growth.
