The areas for hosting cycling events for the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games, held in Swift Current are being put through their paces.

Tests set to take place on the weekend of August 18 and 19 in Swift Current, Wymark, and Hazlet to get a feel for how the events will go next year.

Denise Barbier, games manager for the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games, said they're still taking registrations for participants and volunteers for the cycling tests.

The previous tester event occurred at the Saskatchewan Landing last weekend, aiming to analyze the venue's ability to host the scheduled triathlon event.

The test saw about 75 people participate in the race as well as about 50 volunteers.

The weather was not in favor of the event as it seemed, with heavy rains hampering the course on Sunday morning, forcing the course to be changed.

Barbier said that gives them a better idea of what to expect if it rains during the triathlon at the Games.
