We're just two months away from Christmas, but the Operation Christmas Child campaign is well underway here in Swift Current.

Volunteers will be on hand November 21-27 at Swift Current Mall in front of Safeway to pick up shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies and other essentials to send to children in need in developing countries.

Benita Letnes is our local co-ordinator for the program, and says Swift Current has been very supportive in the past, saying as many as 2000 boxes have moved out of Swift Current in past years. She adds there's also more involvement in the program with more groups other than churches taking part, and says it's an exciting program for any age.

Letnes adds you can volunteer by calling her, or contact your church or school if they're getting involved this year.
