Mayor Jerrod Schafer speaking at last years Mayor's Luncheon

The 8th Canadian Mental Health Association's Mayor's Luncheon is coming up May 10th at the Sky Centre in Swift Current.

Ruth Smith, Executive Director of the Association's Swift Current Branch, said this year's guest speaker will be Saskatchewan author Joy Desjarlais, “She is a victim services advocate and I think she'll be really interseting, I think alot of her talk is going to be on forgiveness and I heard a little bit of her last year and I think she is going to be great”

Smith adds the event has become key in raising awareness and support for the CMHA in Swift Current, “I'm hoping it's becoming our premeier event and that when people think of the Mayors luncheon they think of Canadian Mental Health, it does help with some funds but mostly with information out in the community.”

Tickets are available for 40 dollars and can be purchased by calling 778-2440.
