The SARCAN Depot in Swift Current

The provincial government has signed a long-term contract with SARCAN Recycling.

Environment Minister Dustin Duncan announced the new four-year deal on Friday, saying it was important to give SARCAN some long term funding because of their steady growth. He added that providing funding year to year makes it more difficult to plan for the long term.

The government has been a partner with SARCAN for the last 24 years, and there are 71 SARCAN depots in 65 communities across the province.

Overall, Saskatchewan has the highest recycling return rate in the country at 88 per cent.
