The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan saw its biggest jump yet, as noted in the provincial government's daily update.

Another 30 cases have been confirmed, bringing the total to 134 in the province.

The update also pegged seven known cases as a result of local transmission. The rest remain travel-related, or due to exposure at large gatherings.

Breaking down the cases by age, five are in the 19-and-under range, 58 are in the 20-44 range, 49 are between the ages of 45-64, and the other 22 cases are in individuals 65 and up.

The Government of Sask did note that a fourth recovery has been made, a rise of one since they reported three recoveries on Thursday.

"This is important to recognize that most cases are mild, and many we anticipate will have a full recovery after two to three weeks of symptom onset," said the province's Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab.

8,248 COVID-19 tests have been performed by the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory at the time of their update.

"This figure ranks Saskatchewan #3 in the country for testing of COVID-19. Our intention is to continue with an agressive testing strategy to stay on top of case contact investigations," Shahab said. "These two elements are crucial to prevent further transmission in addition to social distancing and other measures that all of us must observe."

Shahab added that in the days ahead, the Ministry of Health will be deploying additional staff to the Saskatchewan Health Authority to assist with contact tracing, to make sure that cases and their contacts are followed up in what the provincial health authority feels is a timely way.

We'll continue to provide updates as they occur.
