Premier Brad Wall wants both industry and Saskatchewan's new government to look at ways to encourage sustainable development of the province's oil sands resources.

Saskatchewan's initial oil in place is currently estimated at just over 39 billion barrels, with more than 30 billion barrels remaining beyond reach for now.

Minister of Energy and Resources, Bill Boyd explains that more than 100 business-people from around the country attended an oil sands development seminar recently, where the security and supply of oil and gas was discussed.  He says the potential for development is hopeful.

Geoscientists estimate that northwestern Saskatchewan contains over 27,000 square kilometres of land with potential oil sand development.
