premier speech

We'll get our first look at the latest Saskatchewan budget today.

Premier Brad Wall said there will be some belt tightening in an attempt to maintain what he's calling "The Saskatchewan Advantage."

“That we would make the decisions necessary so that we have fiscal responsibility and fiscal discipline as a center piece of our growth agenda and that's what we're going to do with the budget so there will be tough decisions that we're making but we think it's important to sustain Saskatchewan Advantage first and foremost through fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets.”

He said they need to show fiscal responsibility in order to maintain the advantages we have now,

“Our best chance to continue to invest in infrastructure to continue to work on highways, to have the budget to invest in them, to make sure our social programs are sustainable, our best chance to do that is with balanced budgets now.”

Last year the province budgeted a $115 million dollar surplus.
