Project Organizers: Jamie Leek and Trish Hallam

An initiative to keep the whole community warm this winter will be wrapping up today.

The Hand Up project called for donations of boots, blankets, outerwear, and anything else one might need to have a warmer winter.

Co-Organizer, Jamie Leek, says the idea came to be when Moose Jaw resident, Clayton Clysdale-Finell, started his initiative of a thousand good deeds.

"It started off by, we were going to take a load of items to Moose Jaw to help Clayton out, and it absolutely snowballed from there and were able to expand and have a day here in Swift Current as well," she says. "On January 31st, the Days Inn has generously donated a banquet room to us, so between 12pm and 5pm, anyone who needs warm clothing can come pick some up free of charge."

Leek says the community has really backed the project up with an overwhelming positive response, adding that if it weren't for the people of Swift Current, they wouldn't be able to do this.
