The Swift Current Museum is hosting the Royal Saskatchewan Museum's travelling exhibit "New Glimpses of T. rex and its World", with the skull of "Scotty" on display. The exhibit was officially welcomed with an opening reception on Saturday.

"This is his first visit here to Swift Current, and we're very excited about being able to bring the T. rex here so the community can enjoy it, and it goes hand-in-hand with the Tylosaur that we brought in in December," said Museum Curator Lloyd Begley. "One creature swam where we are, and the other one walked the planet just an hour-and-a-half or so west of us, so it's an exciting time to have two kinds of dinosaurs here at the same time telling two completely different stories."

Begley added they had a good turnout for the reception, especially from families with young children. "Dinosaurs are really popular with children, and really all ages," he said. "we've had folks that have run the gamut of age, but lots of kids are bringing grandparents and their parents in to show them the dinosaurs."

You can catch the exhibit at the museum until June 28th.

Meanwhile, one of the men who helped unearth "Scotty" back in 1994 will be speaking at the museum this week. RSM Curator of Paleontology Tim Tokaryk will host a free lecture Wednesday night at 7:00pm, and everyone is welcome to attend.
