Shaunavon RCMP held their first ever Town Hall Meeting last evening in Shaunavon.

The meeting was an opportunity for the detachment to engage directly with residents around local policing priorities and public safety.

Local Conservation Officers were also in attendance.

Sargent Dan Archibald with the Shaunavon RCMP said they had a better than expected turn out and a number of issues were discussed."There was some questions on, you know, what to do if you're ever in a situation where somebody, was, ya know, vandalizing your property. We talked about the marijuana legislations coming through and what we're doing to enforce that and if we have any concerns. And we talked about gun legislations."

About fifty people attended the meeting and RCMP say they hope to hold a minimum of two meetings per year in the future.

The next meeting will probably happen in the Fall.
