The warm weather has actually hindered local construction projects, with mud and ice forming as the snow melts

We've had three straight days of record-setting weather in Saskatchewan, with 14 records broken or tied on Tuesday, another 21 on Wednesday and 24 records broken Thursday.

Swift Current hit 7.7 degrees, just beating the old record of 6.9 set in 2001. Other record breakers were Eastend at 5.9 and Leader at 9.3. Maple Creek hit 10 degrees, though it was just short of a record, and the provincial hot spot was Coronach at 12 degrees.

The record setting temperatures have been a pleasant sight for many, but hasn't been entirely welcomed by everyone. Derek Wallace is project manager for Wallace Construction and says while it may seem beneficial for their industry, the warmer weather hasn't exactly helped speed things up: "Muddy conditions and whatnot are slowing us down, but we've actually been doing exterior painting in the last week and very unusual things for this time of year."

Among the concerns with melting temperatures is the development of mud during the day, and icy conditions when the temperature does drop. Wallace says "Mud and ice are definitely a safety hazard as of right now."

The forecast is expected to get close to 10 degrees again Sunday and Monday, but snow and wind are expected for Tuesday. For more forecast details, click the Local Weather link on Swift Current Online.
