Recylcing Depot

Recycling programs in Saskatchewan received some funding from the Provincial Government on Monday.

The province is contributing 1.5 million dollars from its Go Green Fund to support local cardboard and paper recycling operations.

The Saskatchewan Abilities Council Swift Current Branch, which operates the city's Recycle Depot, will be receiving a share of the money.

Operations Manager Corey Adam said they will be sharing that money with the city to help keep the depot running.

“And the City of Swift Current uses those funds to continue the operation of the recycle depot as well as to buy certain captial items that we need to keep that City depot operational.”

Adam said this year they will have the yard paved at the depot, and re-do the fence on the north side of the lot.

“This year we will have the yard paved at the recylce depot and as well as plans to have the bins removed and loaded from the Northside of the yard so that we can save the pavement once it gets paved so we are going to use some of the money to redo the fence on the North lot.”

Adam said it's been a great partnership between the Abilities Council and the city in running the recycle depot.

“It's been a great partnership, we've got 5 people working over there and really helps us out knowing we can hire our own clients to work at the recycle depot is just an awsome partnership with the city.”
