DBA meeting

Members of the DBA gather at the Swift Current Museum

The reformed Downtown Business Association held a reception at the Swift Current Museum last night.

DBA President Gary Koebel said last night's event was a good chance for business owners downtown to get to know their neighbours, “Basically to get to know the neighbours, great to put some faces to some of the businesses. That's one thing about about being a small business owner you're so busy not having the ability to check out whose around who your neighbours are this is a great venue to do that.”

Koebel adds they've come back together because of the growth downtown and the work the city has done developing it, “There's been a fair amount of growth happening downtown several new businesses opening. The city has done a wonderful job thus far in development. Sprucing up downtown to make it a destination spot.”

Koebel also talked about what work the reformed DBA will be taking on, “Our mandate initially here is to basically be a conduit to assemble ideas from business owners downtown.”

He notes the museum was a good spot because of the display they have up on the history of downtown from 1900 to 1960.
