Warmer weather means the start of road construction season in Saskatchewan.

The provincial Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has released the list of construction projects for the upcoming season, covering over 12-hundred kilometres of roadway at a budget of 581.5-million dollars.

Minister Jim Reiter said this year will see the completion of a major project on Highway 4 north of Swift Current,

“We will see the completion of the climbing lanes at Sask-landing that work will be completed in the next few weeks. The paving will be done so people will notice that pretty soon.”

He adds other projects are planned in the southwest,

“We've got some other paving coming up, there is going to be some work on Highway 1 west of Parkbeg, repaving Highway 32 between Leader and Prelate, some repaving Highway 37 north of Climax.”

As always, drivers are being reminded to slow down to 60 kilometres per hour when travelling through construction areas.
