Rock Solid Refuge held their Shaunavon Banquet and Auction Fundraiser last evening at The Bridge in Shaunavon.

Rock Solid Refuge Executive Director, Dallas Block, says it was a near sold out crowd of about 150 people attending the event to raise money and awareness for Rock Solid Refuge. "We're just really excited. It's our first one here in Shaunavon and so, ya know, how is it going to go? And, so far, it's just really come off really well. Obviously, we're happy with anything that we get, and even just simply the ticket sales is money that's raised for what we're doing at Rock Solid."

The evening included supper, an auction and testimonials from students, as well as guest speakers Ty Thibault and Shaunavon's own Olympic Skier, Jungle Jim Hunter. Hunter said, "Well, I'm honored to come back because I did move away in 1965 to go ski racing. I've always called Shaunavon home. And I look at the fact that young people today have so many pressures on them. When I look at Rock Solid I look at the fact that it provides a solid foundation for these young men."

Money raised last night totaled $53,830.
