Friday and Saturday the Ronald McDonald House Christmas Drive set up shop in Wal-Mart.

The drive gives people the opportunity to donate gifts to the Ronald McDonald house in Saskatoon,

Marion Sanford, the organizer for the Christmas Drive, said that they were able to fill two baskets full of toys, and other essentials.

"It's been a huge success," she said. "It's been unreal, and I don't know where everybody came from or what their stories are, but people are so grateful that they can pay tribute back to the house."

Sanford that they received a lot of toys but also received essential items.

"We also got essentials like hairbrushes, toothbrushes, pajamas, socks, and gift cards," she said. "Sometimes when you end up in Saskatoon with a loved one, it's on short notice, and you come, and arrive with the shirt off your back, we've also asked for stuff for the house like kitchen stuff, and just the essentials."

Sanford said that in 2015 she had a tragedy and had to utilize the home.

She added that without the home, she doesn't know where she would be, and that is why she wanted to hold the Christmas drive.

"It's a way to pay it forward," he said. "It was a home away from home, and it got us through. Any needs or wants, they provided. It's an amazing place to go to in tragic times or when your children are sick."

Currently, 31 out of the 33 beds in the house are being used, and Sanford said that this would help them out in a variety of ways.

"When you get to that house, and you have you have sick loved one, but you still have other children who need some normalcy," she said. "It provides a security and comfort and burdens off parents shoulders. When you are dealing with children sicknesses, illnesses, or tragedy, it's a blessing in disguise, and people don't know how much it means when you don't have to do those little things to do the essentials for your family."

After filling two baskets full of gifts, they were sent off in the Mac Truck from the Innovation Credit Union to deliver the good to the house in Saskatoon.

Sandford said that she plays on doing the Christmas Drive as long as she can.
