A second park in Swift Current will have a rubberized play surface shortly.

Beginning tomorrow (August 24) Riverside Park's play structure will be closed to the public for two weeks to allow for the installation of a rubberized play area.

"We have received tremendous feedback from citizens regarding the rubberized surface at ACT Park, and that certainly weighed into our decision," the city said in an email statement. "Additionally, the rubberized surface significantly improves accessibility for individuals with mobility issues, as compared to a traditional pea gravel surface."

The project that will be constructed by Saskatoon's Shercom Industries Inc. and was approved by city council on March 9, 2020. The budget for the project was approved for $130,000 but the tender agreement was just over $111,000 GST excluded.

The city was also successful in receiving a grant through Kal's Replay Fund (Kal Tire) for the project and will receive between $5,000 to $10,000.
