This week is a time to focus on the dangers of drinking and driving as it is Impaired Driving Awareness Week.

Students Against Drunk Driving will be hosting numerous activities province-wide to educate the public about the risks involved in getting behind the wheel while impaired.

Co-President of the Comp's SADD program Destiny Purvis says their activities include something called Profile The Victim:

“Each student is given a card that has a description of a person and they are asked to assume that identity and then at the end of the day they learn whether or not their person lived or died due to impaired driving”

Other activities include hanging posters around the school and a funeral flower activity where students are randomly given a flower to represent individuals who have lost their lives to impaired driving.

Later this month, a check-stop will be operated by SADD and local RCMP.
