Santa Claus made a brief appearance Thursday night in Shaunavon during the annual Parade of Lights.

The jolly fellow himself was joined by roughly 25 other floats during the event.

Joanne Gregoire, president of the Shaunavon Chamber of Commerce, said two floats really stood out to the crowd.

"Santa is always number one," she said. "Everybody looks forward to seeing him ride at the end of the parade. A crowd favourite always seems to be the fire department they really go all out and always do a cool float that everybody looks forward to seeing."

The event which is a long standing Christmas time tradition in Shaunavon, is a great way for the residents of the town to get in the Christmas spirit according to Gregoire.

"It really is a nice kick off to the season," she said. "You can just tell everybody is excited and it's just a really special feeling in the air. Eveybody is smiling and laughing and enjoying themselves."

The streets were lined with people enjoying the event, while also enjoying above average temperatures throughout the night.
