Both major party leaders continued on their way to the November 7th election with some major anouncements today.

NDP leader Dwain Lingenfelter made a firm committment to increased funding for mental health services in the province, if elected.

Speaking out of North Battleford today, Lingenfelter said they will work closely with mental health organizations, clients and families to develop a five year strategy to improve mental health services. They would commit an additional $45 million over the next four years toward new approaches and additional services in early counselling and crisis intervention services.

The NDP government would fund 40 additional residential acute care beds as well as 80 transition beds if elected November 7th.

On the other side of the coin, the Saskatchewan Party's Brad Wall announced a plan to hire 10 additional police officers to identifying supervise high risk offenders, hiring additional prosecutors and support staff to ensure violent offenders are prosecuted to the full extent of the law and the introduction of a GPS monitoring system for high risk, violent offenders.
