The camping season is long over in Saskatchewan, and it turned out to be a big one for our Provincial Parks.

The Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport says this year was the busiest on record for the parks, with more than three million visits, an 11 per cent increase over 2007.

Minister Christine Tell says a survey of campers this past season found some positive results, with 87 per cent of their visitors saying they were "extremely satisfied" with their visits. 75 per cent stayed in their preferred campsites, which Tell says is important when they are trying to meet the demand for campers.

The survey also found Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park was one of the top four camping destinations in the province last season, along with Meadow Lake, Pike Lake and Duck Mountain Provincial Parks.

Tell adds they will also continue with their ongoing improvements to the parks, by adding more electrfied campsites, improving seasonal campsites, and upgrading washroom and shower facilities.
