SaskPower is giving you a chance to save some money while making your home more energy-efficient.

Judy May, Acting Vice-President of Customer Services for the Crown Utility, says they are offering discounts to help customers to move to more efficient lighting, fixtures and products: "The research that we have done shows that about 21% of electricity used in a typical Saskatchewan home goes to lighting. If people were to switch to more efficient ways of lighting through compact fluorescents or LED lighting... these types of lighting use up to 75% less electricity lasting up to 25 times longer."

May adds they're hoping this program could end up reducing the province's electricity demand by a million kilowatts, or the amount needed to power 126 homes.

The discounts are available through the end of April at all Saskatchewan Costco, Lowe's, Peavey Mart and Home Depot stores, and again from May 4th to 31st at Canadian Tire.
