The phones were out for many SaskTel customers along the US border in Southwest Saskatchewan today.

Andy Tate, Media Relations Manager for the Crown Corporation, says an equipment failure at their Climax office this morning caused landline and CDMA cell service to go out for customers in Climax, Frontier, Val Marie, and Orkney.

He says the outage occurred at around 8:00am, but crews were able to restore service by about 1:40pm this afternoon.

Tate adds 4G wireless service in that area was still operational during the time of the outage.
