SaskTel is warning its email customers about a phishing scam.

The scam originates from an email claiming to be from SaskTel, asking the customer to click on a link that goes to their sasktel.net email account, but Andy Tate, Media Relations Manager for the Crown Corporation, says it's a fake page.

"When you [click the link], you end up at a page that looks like the real login page for sasktel.net, "Tate says. "But when you put your email and password on that page, unfortunately, it's a fake page and the criminals who set it up may be able to steal your username and password. Then you're sent automatically to your real email account, so you don't actually realize that anything has happened, but you may have compromised your password."

Tate adds the email says that the customer has "1 new security message from SaskTel" with not much more information than that, and says they would never send out any messages like that, adding customers should watch out for messages that don't quite make sense.

If you believe you have taken in by this scam, Tate says you should head to sasktel.net right away and change your password.
