southwest scavenger quest

The first ever Southwest Crisis Services "Scavenger Quest" is being called a success.

This past weekend five teams raced to complete numerous tasks around the city with the "Latecomers" team winning the contest but the real winner was Southwest Crisis Services which raised over $5500.

"They got to sing Oh Canada over the PA system at the Credit Union iPlex," said Executive Director Theresa Cole. "They got to construct some furniture, push each other around in shopping carts at Safeway, do some blindfolded spice taste testing and some fitness activities to prove their metal."

It was their first of 3 major fundraisers this year.

"We are just about to start with the Duck Derby coming up on June 3rd this year," said  Cole. "Then in the fall our third major fundraiser is the 'Fall Into Christmas' craft raffle."

Cole is hoping to expand next year's scavenger quest to accommodate more teams.
