Halloween is about to get a lot less spooky for High School Students.

The Swift Current Kiwanis Club announced recently that last October's Senior Spookarama would be the last one. Larry Johnson, past-President of the club, explains.

"The senior Spookarama dance is 39-years-old, and it’s been a great program for the youth to come to a place that they can have fun and dance to music, and have some refreshments and something to eat as well, but the last few years it’s becoming a place that’s not really a safe place for the students to come, because of a few students and youth that created that problem," he said.

Johnson says that the club emphasizes that only a couple kids were causing the issue, not the group as a whole.

"It's just a few causing the problems, but we really discussed this at legnth, the Kiwanis as a whole, but after this past Spookarama we’ve come to the conclusion that we’ll cancel the senior dance, but the junior one is still a go."

The junior Spookarama dance, held for middle-school and elementary-school aged children, will still be on, Johnson says.
