Santa Clause is a must-see for most children around Christmas time, and thanks to a special Santa making his way down from the North Pole, all Swift Current youth can participate in the tradition.

The sixth annual opportunity to meet "Sensitive Santa" came on Monday in the Swift Current Mall, offering a Christmas time visit to St. Nick himself for children who may not have otherwise been able to.

Sensitive Santa specializes in hosting children with Autism and other sensory sensitivities, ensuring that no loud music, bright lights, and long lineups give the children any unnecessary stress.

Arden Fiala, who organized the event with the Swift Current Mall, she said that it was a heartwarming opportunity for her to be able to see the reactions of children and their parents when meeting Santa.

"This evening is just good for the soul, I don't know how else to say it, it is an incredible evening to see children experience a successful visit with Santa on their terms, so they're not overwhelmed, they just get to experience something that a lot of us take for granted."

Fiala also said that she enjoyed being able to see how the event has affected kids who have attended all six years.

"So Santa had a visit through the trees with this little guy six years ago, well now this little guy marches in and sits right next to him and tells him a long story, you take a look at the progression and you also see how the parents are overwhelmed with just sheer Christmas joy, or the grandparents there."

Fiala said that working with the mall to host the event ensured that the environment was able to be controlled to help the kids experience Christmas, and looked forward to continuing the tradition.
