September is Arthritis Awareness Month, and the Arthritis Society is encouraging everyone to learn more about what causes their joint aches and pains.

More than 150,000 people in Saskatchewan suffer from some type of arthritis, and Kelly Pierson, Education Facilitator with the Society's Saskatchewan Division, says osteoarthritis is the most common type, affecting about one in ten Canadians.

Pierson says ignoring joint pain will make the situation worse, and it's important that you get an early and accurate diagnosis of arthritis, saying it helps therapies work when you get diagnosed as soon as possible. She adds they have developed an online quiz for people who want to figure out if their joint pains are a result of arthritis, and will be live on September 6 at arthritisquiz.ca.

The Arthritis Society will be holding a free information session for people living with arthritis at the Swift Current Pharmasave on Tuesday September 13 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. You can pre-register by calling 1-800-321-1433.
