At 4:30 p.m. Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Swift Current, Gull Lake, Leader and surrounding areas.

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that has moved into Saskatchewan west of Leader and is moving rapidly east-northeastward.

The storm is capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to Nickel sized hail and heavy rain.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
