The Fields stores in Shaunavon and Maple Creek will still close for good despite a recent sale of the chain.

The Hudson's Bay Company announced plans to close the Fields discount store chain earlier this year, which included 21 locations in Saskatchewan and 140 across Western Canada, mostly in small, rural communities. HBC said they made the decision in order to focus on their other banners, which included the Bay and Home Outfitters.

FHC Holdings of Vancouver bought up 57 Fields stores, including nine stores in Saskatchewan, and plans to keep them open. The Fields locations in Shaunavon and Maple Creek were not included in the list, and are both scheduled to close by the end of this month.

The nine stores staying open in Saskatchewan are located in Assiniboia, Carlyle, Humboldt, Kamsack, La Ronge, Maidstone, Meadow Lake, Nipawin and Porcupine Plain.
