shaunavon hospitalwinter

It was another close call.

Cypress Health Region CEO Beth Vachon says they almost weren't able to staff the hospital again this weekend.

"We have been able to reschedule our existing staff at this point and are quite optimistic we're avoiding a divirsion that we had thought might happen this weekend. We've got that staffed now."

Vachon says help is on the way.

"We have successfully recruited two registered nurses. Both of them are just awaiting their licensing throught the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association. That is a requirement before they are able to practice in Saskatchewan."

Vachon hopes to have them ready to work in a week or two. The health region is also trying to lock up two other nurses they've been talking to.

If they are successful the four new employees would fill what has been a huge gap in Shaunavon.
