Shaunavon Losing A Doctor

Shaunavon's health staffing challenges are continuing as they're losing Dr. Siva Balasingam, one of their two physicians.

“I drove down and we were able to have a conversation about why shes decided to leave Shaunavon. Her response to that is that for family and personal reasons and practice preference she'll be relocating to Swift Current by the middle of April.” said Cypress Health Region CEO Beth Vachon

Vachon add it's sometimes difficult to keep Doctors because of the taxing on-call schedule, “That does require that a physician be available 24 hours a day. So when you only have a few physicians in a community or even three or four thats not an ideal call arrangement for physicians.”

They are actively recruiting hoping to eventually bring Shaunavon's physician compliment up from one to four.
