More than 100 protesters were arrested on Parliament Hill in a demonstration against a proposed pipeline that will carry Alberta crude to Texas.
They were among several hundred people who gathered in front of the Peace Tower to oppose the Keystone XL pipeline as a risk to the environment.
Here in the southwest, the expansion will be passing within a few kilometers of Shaunavon. Town Administrator Charmaine Bernath says it will bring financial benefits to the region, with work camps looking for accomodations and food.
Bernath adds council hasn't expressed any concerns over the evinronmental issues.
