The Grey Cup Cabaret held this past weekend in Shaunavon was a huge success according to organizers from the Shaunavon Minor Football and Soccer Clubs.

Close to 75 people attended the event to have their picture taken with the Grey Cup and to hear a presentation by The Keeper of the Cup.

No total dollar amounts are available yet, but Travis Nelson, President of the Shaunavon Minor Football Club says money raised could be between $7,500 and $8,000.

"We are raising money to build a field. We've got approval from the Town to establish our field east of the Hospital..out in the prairie where the old football field used to be, in that area."

The CFL regulation size field is still in the planning stages, and more fundraising will be needed to help with the cost, which Nelson estimates could be around $100,000.

Trans Canada Pipelines has presented Travis with the opportunity to have the Grey Cup come back to Shaunavon in the future, and he says that could be used as another fundraiser.
