The World Under 17 Hockey Challenge happens in Swift Current and Medicine Hat November 2-9.

The Host Organizing Committee for the Challenge has announced that Shaunavon has been selected as one of the communities that will host a pre-tournament game.

Shaunavon will host the game on October 31 at The Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center when Canada Black will play Finland.

Shaunavon Mayor, Grant Greenslade, says to bring this caliber of hockey on an international scale to Shaunavon is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the town's hospitality and state-of-the-art facilities.

"Well I'm hoping it'll bring a bunch of people to Shaunavon to see the game on Halloween night. And (we're) talking with our Economic Development Officer about doing some fun activities at the Rink that night to make it fun for everybody."

Greenslade added that they are grateful to Swift Current for giving Shaunavon the chance to host the best hockey talent in the world.
