Shaunavon Town Council has adopted the town's Budget for 2020.

Shaunavon Mayor, Grant Greenslade, talked about their capital expenditures, "I think our Capital Expenditures, although they may be budgeted, we may not even get an opportunity to do them because the contractors may not be available to do so. We're going to go forward with our UV Filtration System. We've already got government grant money in place for that. And we're also going to look at going forward with the Splash Park."

Greenslade adds that there will be some paving done in the community this year, and all spending will be heavily scrutinized throughout the year.

The Town is also looking to pay off the loan on The Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center this year.

Greenslade announced, as well, that Shaunavon property owners will see a slight increase on their tax notice, however, as a measure of assisting residents and businesses, the Town has extended the 4% discount on payments of 2020 Municipal taxes until December 31, 2020. The Town of Shaunavon would like taxpayers to know that if payment is received on January 1, 2021 or later the 12% penalty will still apply.

Also in the Budget was a 1% increase to trailer licencing fees effective July 1, and an approximate 1% increase to taxes, as well as a 1% water and sewer rate increase effective in October.

Tax notices have gone out in the mail to Shaunavon residents.
