The Town of Shaunavon's 2021 Budget has ear-marked funds for work at the Ball Diamonds in the community.

Town Councilor, Shawn Lingenfelter is the Chairman of the Wellness and Leisure Committee. He talked about work that was done with MEEP funding last year to have new dug outs constructed.

He says that work at the Ball Diamonds will continue starting this fall. Some of the work that was previously done include shale infields, underground irrigation, new dugouts, and fence toppers. They will be upgrading the remaining dugouts this fall and adding a fence topper to those diamonds as well, and have budgeted $30,000 for the work.

The Town also plans to honor Braydon Coburn for his Stanley Cup achievement as well as for the other projects in the community he has lent his name to, including the Braydon Coburn Hockey School.

Lingenfelter says, "We're gonna go with two signs on the Highway number One corridor outside of Gull Lake. We're gonna go with a tribute sign on our own highway corridor and then, we're gonna have a banner inside of our rink as well."

The Town included between ten and fifteen thousand dollars in the 2021 budget for the tribute signs and banner which will all feature an image of Coburn.

They hope to have the signs and banner in place before the end of the summer.

Another big Wellness and Leisure project this year is the new Disc Golf Course, which is now open to the public.
