Three southwestern-Saskatchewan communities have struck the jackpot.

The Town of Elrose, the Village of Mankota, and the Town of Ponteix are the three winners of this year's Small Town Showdown.

Elrose was awarded the first-place prize of $5,000. Second place went to Mankota with a prize of $3,000. And third place - worth $2,000 - was awarded to Ponteix.

The partnership between Crop Production Services(CPS), Gowen Canada, and Golden West Radio travelled to 10 communities over July and August, helping raise money within each community for each community's individual reason.

"We all came together and brainstormed on the idea," said Ken Linsley - sales and marketing manager for CPS Southwest Saskatchewan. "We came up with a plan, executed on it, making it a huge success for southwest Saskatchewan."

During the 10 stops, approximately $60,000 was raised from the fundraisers. CPS additionally added approximately $26,000 to bring the total to $86,000.

"It's really exciting to be a part of a promotion that raised that much money that's being left behind in 10 communities in the southwest," said Mike Saretsky, station and general sales manager for Swift Current's Golden West Radio Broadcasting. "At Golden West, we want to partner with great businesses like CPS and Gowan Canada to help facilitate all the great things that happen in southwest Saskatchewan."

The Small Town Showdown promotion has already been confirmed for next year.
