With the dump of snow that the southwest has experienced this past week, town crews in Shaunavon have been busy clearing streets.

After a snow fall, main areas of Shaunavon, such as the hospital and the airport, are done first followed by the residential areas as needed.

The Town, each year in its budget, allows a set number of dollars for snow removal, and with extra snow fall, that could impact the dollars that are available.

Ron Phillips is the Director of Operations for the Town of Shaunavon. He says the town is busy now clearing all the streets. He says that extra snow does have a small impact on the budget, but they are hoping to only have to do the entire town once with winter almost over. He adds, "When the crew is out cleaning the streets, just be aware that sometimes visibility is poor and give them a little bit of room."

Phillips says that no parking signs  are put out approximately 24 hours before clearing. Crews start clearing in the middle of the night and any vehicles left on the street will be towed at the owner's expense.

The Town hopes to have the snow removal done by the end of next week.
