winter warning

The Easter Long Weekend will start with a nasty snowstorm.

The snowfall warning that was in place for the Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and Cypress Hills areas, has been changed to a winter storm warning. Up to 15 centimetres of snow is expected in those areas today before tapering off later this evening, and strong winds will cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow.

The Swift Current area and the rest of the southwest should see up to 10 centimetres of snow this afternoon.

Other parts of the province are expected to be hit hard by this same storm, with areas north of Regina and Yorkton possibly getting up to 40 centimetres of snow.

If you are heading out on the roads today, make sure to check the latest road conditions by calling the Highway hotline at 1-888-335-7623, or click the road report link on Swift Current Online.
