Another snow storm has hit the southwest, but the worst has passed according to Environment Canada.

John-Paul Cragg is a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada and says that the storm shouldn't last much longer.

"The heaviest snow is passing to the east," he said. "You could see snow lingering into the early afternoon. Luckily the worst of the storm will be by Swift Current fairly quickly and move to the east affecting parts of southeastern Saskatchewan into this afternoon."

Cragg says that once this storm passes today there is another system set to hit the southwest on Sunday.

"We've got another system that's going to be pushing across the province," he said. "We are expecting the potential for some light flurries and maybe some cloudy skies, so it doesn't look particularly sunny for the weekend for southwestern Saskatchewan."

Cragg says that over the next week Swift Current won't be seeing a lot of sunny skies.

"Beginning next week you guys will see sunny skies will once again emerge before the potential of precipitation starts to creep back into the forecast by the end of next week," he said. "The only days over the next seven days that you won't see any precipitation, and we'll have clearer skies are Monday and Tuesday next week."

Cragg adds that the blowing snow makes it tougher to measure, but he estimates that Swift Current and the surrounding area received about ten centimetres of snow.
