Shaunavon's Mayoral race is getting an injection of fresh blood.
Royal Back insurance advisor and volunteer fire figher Joel Sopp has announced his candidacy to take over the town's top job.
Sopp says he believes he the right person for the job.
"I think that I've got youthfulness, I'm only 37 so I'm still fairly young. With my experience at town council and serving on the fire department there's that passion to want to be able to grow my community regardless of what capacity it is in. That's what I think I bring to the table."
Sopp commends incumbant Sharon Dickie on her work promoting Shaunavon, but says it's time for a new perspective.
He has only lived in the southwest for a year and admits he still has things to learn, but believes he can help expand the town's growth opportunities.
