People packed into the Swift Current Lyric on Saturday to watch the 3rd show for the Canada 150, Southwest Culture Fest.

The 3rd show featured two dancers showcasing their culture through dance.

Icasiana De Gala, the Executive Director of the Southwest Newcomer Centre, talked about what she hoped people learned from attending the event last night.

"For the people who attended the event, it was our hope that they got to learn more about the culture, because the performances were not just about showing the dances, but were about sharing their culture through the dances, through this art form of sharing the culture, we hope that people that didn't know a lot about the culture were able to learn and understand more about it."

The two performers at the event were Tunde, who did a dance fusion project which combined traditional West African and North American dance, as well as some still projections and music to tell the story of a warrior struggling to protect his family.

Tintu Sebastien who currently lives in Swift Current did a classical Indian dance that she has been practising and perfecting since her childhood.

De Gala added that they want to show different cultures through an art form, whether it is a song, dance or any other art form.
