Special Olympics Swift Current will be holding a swim meet on Sunday February 1st.
Swim coach with Special Olympics Swift Current Jackie Powell says there will local swimmers there as well as swimmers from places such as Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Powell says a number of the swimmers will be competing to make the team to compete at the Western Canada Games.
"Weve got a number of teams coming in, some of our local swimmers will be in attendance and there will be a number of swimmers that will be trying to earn a spot on Team Saskatchewan for the Western Canada Games."
Swimmers that are interested in making the team, Powell says have been training since the Fall.
"This is kind of our first big look at simmers that will be trying to earn a spot on that team. The swimmers that have been interested in trying out for this venture have been training quite hard since the beginning of the Fall. Hopefully we will know early Spring who's on the team and hopefully we will have a local athlete on that team."
The meet takes place at the Aquatic Center from 9:00am-12:00pm.
